Ron has a B.A. in Statistics and Education from Columbia University, and a Masters of Education from Elmhurst College. Ron has been a teacher for ten years, serving as a Fulbright Bilingual Program Instructor in Spain, lead math teacher and department chair at Fenger High School in Chicago and both Envision Academy and Leadership Public Schools in Oakland, CA. He now serves as a 6th grade Math/Science teacher and instructional leader at Gateway Middle School in San Francisco. In 2015, he co-founded Camp Common Ground, a non-profit that brings youth from different backgrounds together to build relationships across cultural lines, and teaches them the leadership skills to do that same work in their schools. Ron has been awarded a Truman Scholarship, and earned the Golden Apple Scholar Finalist award for excellence in teaching. He lives by Lake Merritt in Oakland, CA and loves to try new restaurants and cafes in his neighborhood.
